Every day at Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute we are hard at work on behalf of animals. This includes keeping track of significant events and legislation that have the potential to harm or benefit animals. But we can't do it alone. We need you to help, as our partner in action, in our efforts to alleviate the unnecessary suffering of wild animals in captivity, rescue individual animals in need, protect wildlife — including highly endangered species — in their natural habitats, and encourage compassionate conservation globally.   In March, a dog named Indy was caught in a trap and died in his guardian's arms. Believe it or not, this happened outside the family's synagogue in Michigan. This was an unnecessary tragedy, but one that occurs all too frequently in the United States.

  Turner Network Television (TNT) announced plans for a reality show featuring Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. It is likely that the reality of the suffering of animal performers will not be portrayed in the show.

  If enacted, Haley's Act, H.R. 1947, will prohibit licensed exhibitors or dealers from allowing direct contact between members of the public and big cats such as lions and tigers.
